Printmaking Workshop

On Friday, 7th February, I led a 1.5-hour monoprinting workshop with Ukrainian children (aged 11–18) at ARCA’s centre. The session encouraged them to explore the theme of ‘home’ by creating monoprints that visually represented what home meant to them. Alongside their prints, they wrote personal reflections, offering deeper insight into the significance of their chosen images.

Following the workshop, my key collaborator, David Burke, and I constructed wooden lightboxes to display the children’s monoprints. Each lightbox is designed with a motion sensor, allowing the artworks to illuminate when visitors pass by, symbolising how these young voices come to life within the exhibition space. This interactive display not only enhances the visibility of their work but also reinforces the idea that home is not just a place—it is a presence, a feeling, and a connection that endures.

Their creations will be featured in my upcoming exhibition, 'Guiding Lights: Stories of Home, Memory, and Belonging', on March 3rd 2025.
